Turning the crank operated the internal dasher while the freezer canister worked within the surrounding ice-and-salt mixture, allowing the ingredients to freeze while being continuously churned. The wooden outer tub held the ice and salt surrounding the metal canister.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAll parts appear to be included, although this is being sold as a display and not an actual ice cream maker.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCondition is consistent with considerable age. The wooden bucket has scratches, staining, discoloration, finish wear. The metal bands and operating components show oxidation, rust spotting, tarnish and patina. The original paper label remains attached but has staining, fading, edge losses, tears and surface wear. The wooden bucket has separations and wear visible around some of the staves and rim.
